The Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party candidate, Reverend Tunde Afe has called on the Federal Government to carry out a thorough investigation into last Friday’s shooting at the reception of rival candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of the APC.
He said the investigation was necessary to check the incessant resort to violence by politicians.
Reacting to the shooting, Rev. Afe said there was no need for politicians to resort to the use of violence under whatever guise to advance political interests.
Rev. Afe in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday enjoined politicians to be peaceful in their conduct before, during and after the election, saying “except there is extraneous interest, we don’t have to kill each other simply because we want to govern Ekiti”
He said, never should the tactics of “bolekaja” be permitted and that peace is a necessary precondition for development. He called on all stakeholders to ensure that the relative peace which persists in the state is not subverted for pecuniary gains.
