It all started about nine months ago, when Mr. Pal felt a bump at the back of his head, which subsequently grew. After two chemotherapy sessions and an Ayurvedic therapy by different health centers, there was no resolution.
He then visited Nair’s hospital for continued expert management
Santlal Pal, a 31-year-old shopkeeper had been carrying around a tumor so large that “it seemed like a head on top of another head”, weighing about 4 pounds.
A complex surgery which took about seven hours was carried out at the Mumbai’s BYL Nair Hospital on the 14th of February.
According to some Doctors in Nair hospital, this may be the largest brain tumor to be recorded.
Doctors said Mr. Pal had lost his sight due to the tumor, but are hopeful he would regain it as he continued to recover from the operation.
His wife told the local newspaper that they had been told by doctors at three different hospitals in Utter Pradesh that the tumor was inoperable.
Pal is currently recovering in the intensive care unit and is in stable condition, according to The Hindu.
