Brazil legend, Pele, has spoken about his compatriot Neymar’s world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Neymar is now the most expensive player in the world, after completing a €222million move from Barcelona to the Ligue 1 giants.
Pele, who Neymar has been compared to many times, posted an image of himself in front of the Eiffel Tower and wrote along it: “Congratulations @neymarjr, good luck in your new challenge. Paris is a beautiful city, one of my favorite in the world!”
The 25-year-old will be officially unveiled by PSG in front of thousands of fans on Friday.
He is in line to make his first appearance for the club, when they take on Amiens in their first league fixture of the 2017/2018 season.
Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo have reported that Neymar has accepted an offer from PSG to leave Barcelona and make the sensational switch to Parc des Princes this summer. The deal would see Les Parisiens trigger the Brazilian forward’s mammoth €222 million release clause a world record transfer.
The move to Barcelona has been highly fruitful for Neymar on a professional level as he has already laid his hands on every trophy there is to win in European club competition. And the 2016/17 season saw him truly come into his own, with many hailing him to be Barcelona’s best player in the campaign.
Neymar joined Barcelona in the summer of 2013 after a fierce transfer battle between the Catalan club and Real Madrid. While the player initially struggled to adapt to the challenges at Camp Nou, he has gone on to establish himself as one of the finest players in the world, having become a key figure for the Blaugrana.
