The Minister Of Water Resources, has inaugurated a project to improve the living standards of the people of Bayelsa State.
According to reports, Mr Suleiman Adamu, The Minister Of Water Resources has a inaugurated a central ogbia regional water supply project in Bayelsa State. The projects which covers 13 communities, which also includes Otuoke, the hometown of former President Goodluck Jonathan, to enjoy from these benefit.
Bayelsa historically is one of those not highly populated states who have survived from lack of clean and portable water. Despite producing the former President of Nigeria, nothing was done to elevate the people of Bayelsa State from poverty, disease and suffering.
Mr Adamu said ” The project we are inaugurating today is among the high priority projects for water supply, which indicates that the Buhari administration is committed to completing all viable projects that have positive impact on the lives of our people “without any political sentiments”.
He further called on the host communities to take ownership of the water project by maintaining it for improvement of livelihood and reducing water borne diseases adding that adequate water supply for human and livestock production is a crucial aspect of social and economic development.
Serena Dokubo, Secretary to the Bayelsa State government, said the state would continue to embark on projects that would improve on the lives of the people. He stated this while commending the federal government for the project, saying such project was needed in other communities.
“Lives are saved every time a water project is inaugurated because alot of children die from consumption of unclean water, a lot fall sick, you have to spend more to take them to the hospital to get cured,” Murray-Bruce said.
About 130,000 people are expected to benefit from the project estimated at N5.9billion project.
