FG declares public holiday


To celebrate 55th independence day of the country, the Federation Government of Nigeria has declared Thursday, October 1, 2015.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press, Yusuf Isiaka, on Monday.

The permanent secretary, who congratulated all Nigerians both at home and abroad, also thanked them for their support of President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts towards building a peaceful, united and virile nation.

He further urged them to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for peace and unity across the country.

All nationals of the country eagerly awaits independence day, as the celebration cuts through all tribe, religion and social strata, bringing together all in the heart of merriment and the spirit of one Nigeria.
