Osun NLC Calls Off Strike Yet Again

The Nigerian Labour Congress and the Osun state government have been in what appears to look like a game of cat and mouse.

The state has been on strike due to the lack of payment of State workers. However, an agreement was reached by both parties to call of the strike for full payments of backlogs, but there was a downturn of events when the government breached the contract by paying just 50% of the agreed sum.

This development led to reinstating the strike action yet again.

The latest development is that both parties have resolved the issue and governor Aregbesola held on trust to complete the payments as the government has claimed that the source of the funds didn’t come fully as expected.

” After due consultation between the government and the leadership of the Joint Labour Movement in the state, we hereby resolve as follows:

” That government has assured the leadership of the labour movement of its continuous commitment to payment of full salaries.

“All workers are hereby directed to resume duties and continue working at their various duty positions,” were the words of the NLC chairman, Mr Jacob Adekomi.
