Championship side Middlesbrough have agreed a £5m fee with West Ham for Stewart Downing, according to reports.
Downing is expected to undergo a medical on Thursday and he could join up with the rest of the Boro squad at their training camp in Marbella by the end of the week
The England international left Boro six years ago when he joined Aston Villa for a fee of £10m.
Two years later he was on the move again as Liverpool and Kenny Dalglish paid £20m to take him to Anfield.
In 2013, after two disappointing seasons on Merseyside, he signed for West Ham in a £5m deal.
However, the 30-year-old wants to see out his career with his hometown.
