Raheem Sterling was given a hero’s welcome after officially being unveiled by Manchester City.
The England striker completed his £44m move from Liverpool on Tuesday after completing a medical and the formalities of a five-year deal.
He is due to fly out to Australia this week to join up with the rest of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad for their pre-season tour.
But first he greeted City fans and Blues legend Mike Summerbee at the Etihad.
Sterling has become Pellegrini’s first major signing of the summer in a deal that could rise to £49m depending on his success.
And it is clear City’s Chilean manager is convinced he will live up to that fee and his status as the most expensive English footballer of all time.
Pellegrini said: “Raheem Sterling is one of the best attacking players in world football, and I am very much looking forward to him joining our squad out in Australia later this week.
“He is a young player with outstanding ability, and I am sure the Manchester City fans will be very excited about seeing him in action for the team.”
