Sophie Okonedo: Nigerian-born actress to star in new BBC thriller‎

Nigeria-born, British actress Sophie Okonedo has been given the lead role in BBC’s upcoming political thriller, ‘Undercover’. ‎

Starring with her is Adrian Lester in the movie written by popular playwright and screenwriter, Peter Moffat. Okonedo will play the role of Maya, an ambitious black woman in the forthcoming project. 

The actress who ‎began her film career in 1991 in the British coming-of-age drama Young Soul Rebels‎, was born to a Nigerian father and Jewish mother.‎

Sophie ‎received an Academy Award ‎nomination for‎ the ‎Best Supporting Actress ‎for her role in Hotel Rwanda where she played the character, Tatiana Rusesabagina.
