The lingering saga between Liverpool winger and the club has taken a new dimension, with the Anfield side rejecting offers tendered on the 20 year old Raheem Sterling, the Jamaican born player has made clear his decision to leave the club by refusing to go on pre-season tour with Liverpool.
Sterling told Liverpool he does not want to go on the club’s pre-season tour to the Far East and Australia, the player looks to force through a move to Manchester City.
The contract rebel is expected to leave the Reds this summer, with Manuel Pellegrini’s side the most likely destination.
City have already seen two bids rejected for the 20-year-old, but are set to return with a £50m (including all add-ons) offer in the coming days.
Liverpool will fly to Thailand on Sunday to begin the two-week tour before returning to Merseyside on July 25.
It’s understood the Reds want Sterling on the plane to the Far East, but all that could change should Man City come back with a bumper offer.
Brendan Rodgers has already prepared options to replace the pacy winger if the move pulls through.
