Controversial President of Burundi, Pierre Nkurunziza has skipped a regional talk in the central African country to stay back for electioneering.

It appears Nkurunziza’s third term bid waxes stronger with each threat, coup attempt or civil unrest in the country. Instead of his presence at the East African Community (EAC) set to hold in Der es salaam, Tanzania, he said his minister for foreign affairs.

However, the President still has a lot to battle in his journey to third term presidency, top of of which is rebel general Leonard Ngendakumana’s threats to overthrow his government.
