It’s likely that  Manchester United striker Robin van Persie could be on his way out of the club, the Dutchman has reportedly agreed a four-year deal with Fenerbahce.

The Dutchman has been the subject of speculation this summer after a disappointing personal 2014/2015 season with the Red Devils, and it appears the Turkish side have swooped for his signature.

Reports emerging today revealed the 31-year-old flew out to Istanbul with his family to finalise the details with Fenerbahce after initially turning down an approach by rival Super Lig club Besiktas.

Van Persie’s wife, Bouchra, initially opposed the move citing safety reasons but has allegedly now been convinced after the visit to the Turkish capital.

Van Persie will join up with a former United team-mate at the Turkish runners-up after Portuguese winger Nani completed a £4.25million move earlier this week.

Fenerbache expect to officially announce the signing of the former Arsenal striker by the weekend.

Van Persie’s move to Old Trafford in 2012 was shrouded in acrimony, but the big-money deal was vindicated as he spearheaded the Red Devils to a 20th Premier League title with 26 goals.

He played a part in every league game in his debut season for United, but only managed 21 and 27 appearances in his next two respectively as he was hampered by debilitating injuries.

In what appears to be his final campaign with Louis van Gaal’s side, van Persie scored 10 goals as United regained their place in the Champions League after a disastrous previous season under David Moyes’ stewardship.
