Orlando Sentinel spokesman for Walt Disney says Bill Cosby’s bronze bust would be removed from the Walt Disney resort’s Hollywood Studios theme park by the end of July 8.
This proclamation comes just a day after the court documents revealed Cosby to have admitted, obtaining drugs to “use” on women “he wanted to have sex with” in 2005.
The decision was prompted by a Change.org petition created in 2014 urging Disney World to remove the bust, which stands in the park’s Hall of Fame Plaza alongside other Television Academy Hall of Fame inductees such as Lucille Ball and Walt Disney.
Although, according to ‘The Wrap’ the decision was made internally and not as a result of the petition, cited “an individual with knowledge of the removal.”
The veteran comedian admitted in a 2005 deposition that he purchased Quaaludes with the intention of using it on women in order to have sex with them. In the same deposition, he allegedly owned up to giving drugs to a female former Temple University employee who filed a lawsuit accusing him of rape that same year.
The suit claimed that the comedian drugged and raped the woman,Andrea Constand — former director of operations for Temple’s women’s basketball program — at his Philadelphia mansion in 2004.
