Galatasaray have completed the signing of Lukas Podolski from Arsenal, sources close to Cheznews has confirmed.
The switch has been on the cards for the last week but has finally been sewn up with the German star penning a deal in Turkey, with the fee worth a reported €2.5million.
The 30-year-old spent three seasons with the Gunners after joining from Bundesliga side Koln in a £11million transfer in 2012.
In north London he netted 31 goals in 82 appearances but struggled to maintain a starting role under Arsene Wenger’s stewardship.
Upon joining Galatasaray, the German international striker, Podolski said:
“Galatasaray also made proposals in the past year. But this year there was more intense interest. My parents wanted me to come here.
“Galatasaray were champions last year. We will play to be champions in the coming years, we’re looking to get to the next level.
“I’ve followed Galatasaray for a long time. I know there’s a great atmosphere in the stadium.
“Galatasaray fans have given me so much attention and are excited about me. This is a big factor in my decision making”.
