Lewis Hamilton beat team-mate Nico Rosberg in an all-Mercedes battle for pole position at the British Grand Prix.
Hamilton beat Rosberg by just 0.113 seconds and received a standing ovation from the 105,000 strong crowd.
This pole place means Hamilton has qualified top for the eighth time in nine races this year.
The Brit has never won at Silverstone after starting from pole three times, but won the race last year from sixth on the grid.
Stevenage-born Hamilton was ecstatic with his performance in qualifying.
He said: “It is a special day when you get pole on your home turf.
“There are so many people here and they really do motivate me. It has not been the smoothest of weekends but it was great to go flat-out at the end.”
