UNIZIK Suspends 5Lecturers for misconduct


Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, the director of publications of Nnamdi Azikiwe university, Awka has confirmed the universities decision to suspend five of her Dons who have been accused of examination misconduct.

Pending the outcome of the Senior Staff Disciplinary committee investigation, the lecturers involved were suspended on the 2nd of march , for the next three months and with half salaries.

The lecturers involved, whose names were withheld, are from the following departments:
Department of Pure and Industrial chemistry and
Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering

The allegations put forward against these lecturers include assisting students in answering questions during the 2013/2014 first semester exams as well as awarding of high marks to undeserving students. They have also been accused of collecting money from students to secure their passing.

The vice chancellor of the university, Prof Ahaneku Joseph has strictly warned his staff to desist from such purnishable acts and that the ongoing investigation will also fish out other guilty members involved in this criminal actions.
