South-Eastern Nigerian politics make headlines yet again as the incumbent governor of the salt of the nation, Ebonyi state, Chief Martin Elechi was served an impeachment letter on Friday, the 27th of February2015, by the State House of Assembly.
This comes as the March 28 elections draws closer.
In this bid to oust the state governor, the acting leader of the house, Hon. Francis Nwifruru read the impeachment notice to the plenary, stating the undermining of the integrity of the house, misappropriation of funds amongst other reasons, as the purpose for the impeachment.
This motion for the impeachment was moved by Hon. Odefa Obasi and seconded by Hon. Valentine Okike.
Governor Elechi is yet to give any official statement as at the time this report was filed.
