Do you know? Do you want to know? that for a perfect,smooth and youthful skin, mother nature is your best and safest bet, most of you don’t read the labels of the beauty product you buy, we are all like “Ok, she’s using it so it must be working” then you run out to the store and buy it.
Our skin is like a sieve, most of what we apply on it penetrates and is absorbed into the body, yes all that chemical laden cream you’ve been slathering on like butter on bread, is probably killing you and yet still not doing its job.
We are not here to criticise your beauty routines or product, we are here to issue warnings and provide better options, so now, we bring to you 5 items you can find in an everyday home that you didn’t know was you ticket to perfection:
Honey : By this we don’t mean the store bought ones those have been processed and the nutrients we are looking for is lower than in a natural, unprocessed one. This on its own is nice but for different purposes you have to beef it up a little.
Pore purifier: the enzymes in honey mixed with just a little coconut oil purifies the skin and keeps the pores clean and clear.
Scar remover: mix two tablespoons of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of oil to get an amazing scar remover, unbelievable right? The anti inflammatory and anti bacterial compounds mixed with the hydrating properties of olive helps in the rejuvenation of cells.
Anti ageing: mix honey,shea butter and avacado for the perfect moisturiser, the natural properties improves skin appearance and reduces wrinkles.
Coconut milk : is high in magnesium for maintenance of nerve control, phosphorus and calcium helps maintain bone health.
When mixed with olive oil this is a nice substitute for make-up remover, mix 5tbs of olive oil and 5tbs coconut milk, soak up with cotton wool and scrub off the make up not vigorously, then rinse with warm water.
If you have a lot of coconut milk you can spring for a body scrub, mix with sugar and a little olive oil and let your body be pampered.
Egg white : the natural properties of egg tightens the facial muscles just a bit and it’s effect are temporal, so you can save this for special occasions, like valentine’s day dinner with the hubby, just massage in the egg white on your face and leave for 5 minutes, then rinse with warm water, pat dry.
Face mask: blend egg white and avacado into a paste and viola you have you own spa experience right in your living room, spread on your face and allow to sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. It penetrates deep into your pores leaving your skin feeling soft and nourished.
Lemons : Lemons has a lightening quality, yes it makes you fairer but it’s a slow process don’t rush it by applying daily or God forbid hourly, lemons because of its acidic properties should not be a daily skin treatment, as too much use will shrivel and dry up your skin, 3 to 2 times a week is the more advisable routine, some people might have a chemical reaction to sunlight if exposed immediately after using lemon on their skin.
For even skin tones and spots use as face wash, just cut up the lemons into halves and use or pour a little water on the cut halves, soak wit cotton wool and use.
Acne: lemons antibacterial and anti fungal properties makes it the perfect solution for acne, just scrub your face with halve of a lemon.
Exfoliant: 2tbs brown sugar plus 1 egg white plus a tablespoon of lemon mixed together and allowed to sit for 10-15 minutes, exfoliates the skin and cleanses the pores.
Avacado : This is rich in vitamins,fibre, mono-unsaturated fat and copper, which are good for rejuvenating, nourishing and strengthening cells.
For dry skin, mash and leave on for 10 minutes, it’s a wonderful moisturiser.
Mixed with honey it’s a nice, soothing solution for crows feet, it also gets rid of dead skin cell giving you a nice youthful glow.
