The 2015 AFCON finals in Guinea between the two powerhouses of football in Africa The Black stars of Ghana and the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.
Both teams seem to start with the same formation 4-4-2 with all activity centered in the midfield.
This will be a night for Yaya Toure to prove once again why he is the best footballer in the continent. And also another night for the Cote d’Ivoire golden generation live up to expectation.
The similarities between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire are eerily similar.
Both teams made their first World Cup appearance in 2006, only the Black Stars hardly warranted the same amount of attention or at least it started that way.
Ghana worked hard to earn their reputation as an African powerhouse, performing arguably how their counterparts should have.
They reached the knockout stage at the 2006 World Cup and followed it up with a quarter-final appearance in 2010, all the while reaching four consecutive semi-final berths at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Like the Elephants, however, Ghana have been waiting since 1982 to lift the trophy again and will fancy their chances to end a 33 year drought on this beautiful night in Bata.
